2012 Suits and Sneakers Awareness Weekend: On Saturday, the UIndy men's basketball coaching staff will wear sneakers with their suits for the annual Coaches vs. Cancer® Suits and Sneakers awareness weekend, a collaborative initiative of the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). Participating NABC member coaches will wear sneakers instead of dress shoes with their suits during weekend games to demonstrate their support for the American Cancer Society and its vision of a world with less cancer and more birthdays.
Fans may support this cause by texting COACH to 20222 from any wireless phone to make a $5.00 donation toward Coaches vs. Cancer and help in the search for a cure. For more information, visit the Coaches vs. Cancer Facebook page,

On Tap: Riding a five-game winning streak and victories in nine of the last 10, UIndy faces a split week with one road and one home game. The Greyhounds play their third road game in a row on Thursday against Lewis in a rematch from last year's GLVC Tournament first round and then return to Nicoson Hall to start a three-game homestand against Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday.
About Lewis: The Flyers are third in the GLVC in scoring defense (61.9 ppg) and hold a win against No. 20 Hillsdale. Lewis is led by 6-1 senior Chris McClellan with 13.9 points and 6-2 freshman Ryan Jackson with 11.8 points per game.
About Wisconsin-Parkside: The Rangers are third in the GLVC in offensive rebounding (12.76 rpg) and are 4-1 against the GLIAC this season. UWP is led by the duo of 6-1 senior Leneal Harris and 6-6 junior Jeremy Saffold with 12.2 and 11.9 points.
Series History: UIndy is 26-38 all-time against Lewis after each team won on the road last year. The Greyhounds won at Lewis in the regular season, 83-81, but then fell at home, 69-67, in the GLVC Tournament. Lewis is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings.
The Hounds are 23-11 against Parkside after last year's victory, 87-67, at Nicoson. Overall, UIndy is 13-4 at Nicoson, but just 5-5 in the last 10 total meetings.
Down Goes #1: For the third time in school history and second time this season, UIndy beat the No. 1 team in the country with an 80-77 win at Kentucky Wesleyan on Jan. 21, which was the first road win against number one. Previously, UIndy won 99-94 in overtime over defending national champion Bellarmine on Dec. 1. They join an 88-87 win over No. 1 Southern Indiana on Jan. 8, 2004. UIndy has now won 35 games all-time against nationally-ranked teams, including six in head coach
Stan Gouard's tenure.
Ranking Them: Despite being over-looked by the voters in the NABC Coaches Top 25 until checking in at No. 21 this week, in the Massey Ratings, a computer-based ranking system, UIndy is 9th in the country as of 1/22.
This is the 19th week in school history that UIndy is in the Top 25 and second time in Coach Gouard's tenure (#22, 2/1/11).
Buzzer Beaters: UIndy has a pair of dramatic endings this season with shots in the final seconds.
Miles Mitchell made a three-pointer with four seconds left to turn a two-point deficit into a one-point victory over Missouri-St. Louis, 63-62 (1/14). One week later,
Cody Vest hit a 27-foot three-pointer as time expired to win at No. 1 Kentucky Wesleyan, 80-77 (1/21).
Hounds on TV: Produced by HomeTown Television, the following games will be televised via tape-delay and air on WRTV 6.2 HTSN: Dec. 1 vs. Bellarmine, Jan. 16 vs. St. Joseph's, Feb. 2 vs. Kentucky Wesleyan and Feb. 4 vs. Southern Indiana.
