INDIANAPOLIS- Greyhound women's tennis spent its Saturday morning as advocates for breast cancer awareness, volunteering at the American Cancer Society's Make Strides to End Breast Cancer 5K at White River State Park downtown.
"It was a great experience for a good cause to bring awareness and help petition more money for breast cancer research," junior Clair Liles said of the experience. "Everyone we worked with was very friendly and we had a really good time doing it."
The nine members of the UIndy women's tennis team were all in attendance, and served as advocacy volunteers at the event. The Greyhounds walked around before and after the walk to get participants' and spectators' names to petition local congressmen to get more money from the government to fund breast cancer research.
Greyhound tennis picks up in the spring with its championship season. UIndy opens the spring season Feb. 4 at the UIndy Tennis Center against Georgetown (Ky.).
