Men's tennis starts 2012 with third consecutive victory

The UIndy men's tennis team remained perfect in dual matches by beginning 2012 with a 7-2 win at the UIndy Tennis Center against Georgetown (Ky.) on Saturday evening.

The duo of Trevor Cox and Alex Poe set the tone for the Greyhounds (3-0) with an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles, followed by Michael Bradley and Pete Wilson with an 8-3 win against the Tigers' (2-2) No. 3 squad. Christian Nikou and Matt Smith rounded out the sweep with an 8-6 win at the top position.

The Greyhounds added four straight set wins in singles to account for the final scoring with Cox at No. 1 (6-1, 7-5), Caleb Fellers at No. 2 (6-2, 6-4), Smith at No. 4 (6-2, 6-2) and Poe at No. 5 (6-1, 6-1).

UIndy hosts future Great Lakes Valley Conference member McKendree at 1p.m. next Saturday at the UIndy Tennis Center.
