2012 Men's D-II ITA All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes

2012 Women's D-II ITA All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes

SKILLMAN, N.J. -- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced that University of Indianapolis men's and women's tennis were 2012 All-Academic Teams and 11 student-athletes were honored as 2012 ITA Scholar-Athletes.

The male Greyhounds were one of just 22 NCAA Division II programs to be an All-Academic Team and one of only two teams from the Great Lakes Valley Conference (Drury). Student-athletes Trevor Cox, Nick Reinhart and Pete Wilson represented the Greyhounds individually. This is the fifth season in a row and ninth ITA All-Academic Team award for the men. The team tallied a 3.39 GPA over the course of the last season to join the women and four other UIndy squads to earn the GLVC Team Academic All-Conference award.

The women joined 54 other Division II programs as an All-Academic Team, including being one of just four GLVC schools (Drury, Lewis, Missouri-St. Louis). The Greyhounds led all UIndy teams with a 3.71 grade point average. Student-athletes Maggie Ashby, Brooke Boyts, Taylor Eckert, Kasey Land, Claire Liles, Kelsey Matthews, Alena Perez-Majul and Meghan Teunis were honored as ITA Scholar-Athletes. This is the 10th consecutive season the Greyhounds have earned the team honor, while Teunis finished her career as a four-time ITA Scholar-Athlete.

UIndy's eight female honorees were tied with Florida Southern, Florida Tech and Minnesota State-Mankato for the most in all of NCAA Division II.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA/CA JUCO eligibility form and have competed in one or more varsity matches must average into the GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2010 and spring 2011).

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).
