INDIANAPOLIS –
The UIndy women's tennis team was competitive from start to finish in its loss, 9-0, to Division I Eastern Illinois on Saturday at the UIndy Tennis Center.

After starting slow in doubles and at the start of singles, play began to pick up for the Greyhounds (0-2) against the Panthers (3-2).

UIndy went to the third set at No. 6 singles with Claire Liles and third set superbreakers in three other matches during singles.

"It was a very competitive match all the way through and I was happy to see that from the team," head coach Malik Tabet. "The improvement in just a week and the ability to implement what we worked on after playing Northern Illinois last weekend was very good to see."

Liles fell 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 to Alex Curtis, while Allie Smith at No. 1, Rachel Barger at No. 4 and Brooke Boyts at No. 5 all won sets from their D-I counterparts.

Smith fell to Janelle Prisner 4-6, 6-4, (10-5), whole Barger dropped a 4-6, 7-6 (3), (10-8) decision to Ali Foster. Boyts finished with a 5-7, 6-3, (10-5) loss to Kristen Laird.

The Greyhounds will face Division II competition for the first time in 2013 against regional opponent Lake Superior State tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the UIndy Tennis Center. The UIndy men's tennis team will also make its 2013 debut against the Lakers as part of the doubleheader.
