INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy men's tennis team battled for Indianapolis bragging rights against Marian on Sunday and came out on top, 8-1, in a tightly contested meeting at the UIndy Tennis Center.
The Greyhounds (4-1) won their second match in a row, while handing the Knights (15-6) their second loss of the weekend.

UIndy started by sweeping through the doubles as
Trevor Cox and
Luke Hubert were first off the court with an 8-3 win at No. 3 to improve to 5-1 on the year as a tandem. Teaming for the first time ever,
Fausto Cordova and
Caleb Fellers followed with an 8-3 win at No. 1, while
Alex Poe and
Preston Swain completed the run with an 8-6 win at No. 2 for their fifth win of the season.
Cox made short work of Tyler Scanlan at No. 3 with a 6-1, 6-1 win to get UIndy on the board first in singles, followed by Fellers with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 5 over Taylor Kinney for the match-clinching fifth point.
Cordova finished the weekend 4-0 by earning a 6-3, 6-2 win over Ryan Heuer at No. 2 singles to improve to 7-3 on the season.
The Knights won their lone point in the next match to finish, but the Hounds came back to win in the final two matches in super tiebreakers. Swain defeated Nick Batuello 6-4, 6-7 (5), (10-6) at No. 6, while Hubert earned his team-leading ninth singles win of the season by winning his first career match at No. 1 singles.
The freshman fought back from trailing in the first set to win the tiebreaker and then had to survive match point in the superbreaker to prevail over Jason Denton 7-6 (6), 2-6, (11-9).
The Greyhounds return to the UIndy Tennis Center next Saturday, March 30, to host Lewis. The Flyers are ranked No. 38 in the country and fourth in the Midwest Region.
