MOBILE, Ala. – The UIndy women's tennis team earned its second win in a row, 9-0, by taking out NAIA Spring Hill (Ala.) at the alma mater of head coach
Malik Tabet, the University of Mobile.
The Greyhounds (2-2) swept through the doubles and went on to drop only 16 games in winning all six singles matches in straight sets over the Badgers (3-1).
Allie Smith won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles with
Taylor Eckert and then went on to a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles over Shelby Fritscher in the closest match of singles. Eckert finished her sweep by winning at No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-1 over Tara Montegut.
Claire Liles at No. 2 doubles and No. 5 singles,
Rachel Barger at No. 3 doubles and No. 4 singles and
Kasey Land at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles were also multiple winners on the afternoon. Land was playing in her first singles match of the spring after missing all of the fall due to injury.
Alex Covington won at No. 2 singles with Liles, while
Macey Speer stepped into the singles line-up with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3.
The Greyhounds move back into NCAA D-II competition on Saturday at 3 p.m. against West Alabama (9-3).
