INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced tonight at Primo Banquet Hall and Conference Center that University of Indianapolis freshmen
Allie Smith and
Macey Speer have been named to the GLVC Women's Tennis All-Conference Team. Voting was conducted by conference coaches.
Smith, the GLVC Player of the Week for the penultimate week of the regular season, played No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles all season for the Greyhounds (8-3, 5-1 GLVC). She was 7-4 in singles, including 5-1 in the GLVC, while also going 7-4 in dual doubles. She was 7-2 at No. 1 doubles with partner
Taylor Eckert, including 5-1 in conference action. Overall, Smith is a team-best 12-7 in singles and tied for the team lead in doubles wins at 10-8.
Speer played No. 2 and No. 3 singles for the Greyhounds, in addition to playing No. 2 doubles. Speer was 7-3 in dual singles, including 4-1 in the GLVC. She was 3-2 at the No. 2 spot and added a 4-1 mark at No. 3 singles. Speer teamed with
Rachel Barger to go 4-1 in the GLVC at No. 2 doubles.
The Greyhounds host the GLVC Championship Tournament this weekend with a match on Friday at 8:30 a.m. against Missouri-St. Louis. Action is scheduled to take place at the Wynne Tennis Center at North Central High School. The UIndy Tennis Center is the inclement weather alternate site for the Greyhounds.
