Football, Soccer, Tennis all host home events this weekend
 

Another busy weekend is on tap for Greyhound athletics, as nine teams will be in action on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.  Home events include men's and women's soccer doubleheaders, a non-conference football matchup with Saint Joseph's and men's tennis hosting the Wilson/ITA Great Lakes Regional tournament.

Men’s Soccer: The Greyhounds head home for a four-game homestand starting with Kentucky Wesleyan on Friday ... The soccer squad will play seven of their final nine at home ... The team dropped a pair of overtime contests last weekend, falling to Drury and Rockhurst on the road ... Sophomore Jon Walker leads the team with five goals ... The Hounds have compiled a 7-3-0 overall record and tied for eighth in the conference with a 3-3-0 ledger.

Women’s Soccer: A pair of freshmen lead the Hounds in scoring as Ashley Seehase and Amanda Reese each have five goals coming into the weekend ... Sarah Jones also has five goals to her credit ... The team was shut out for the first time all season in a 1-0 loss to Drury on Friday ... The Hounds have compiled a 7-3-0 overall record and tied for seventh in the conference with a 3-3-0 ledger.

Volleyball: The UIndy volleyballers had a six-match winning streak snapped on Saturday ... The Hounds lead the GLVC in team hitting percentage with a .274 mark; senior Lynne Ross is 2nd in the league, hitting at a .364 clip ... UIndy had three double-double performances over the weekend, two coming from freshman Brandi McAllister and another from sophomore Karla Mast ... UIndy has compiled a collective six double-double efforts on the season with Mast leading the way with three ... The Hounds have compiled an 12-4 overall record and tied for second in the conference with a 4-1 ledger.

Women’s Golf: UIndy is coming off a seventh-place finish at the Cardinal Classic in Muncie, Ind., an event comprised mainly of Division I squads; freshman Sarah Prascsak finished fourth overall ... The team gets back to action at the Southern Indiana Invite this weekend.

Men’s Golf: The Greyhounds had to settle for second place at the SIUE Cougar Classic after rain wiped out the final day of action ... The Hounds had retaken the lead on Sunday through four holes, but the rain forced the cancellation of the final 18 holes.

Cross Country: The teams recently competed in the Indiana Intercollegiates, placing ninth (women) and 13th (men) overall among all Indiana college teams (all Divisions) ... the cross teams will run at the Loyola Invite in Chicago, Ill. on Sep. 29.

Women’s Tennis: Lindsey Fischer advanced to the semifinals and Ashley Liles was a quarterfinalist at the ITA Regional this past weekend ... The team heads to Evansville on Friday.

Men’s Tennis: The men’s team opened its 2006-07 schedule, playing in the DePauw Individual tournament ... UIndy will be the host of the 2006 Wilson/ITA Great Lakes Regional this weekend, an event which will feature the top talent in the region ... 64 singles players and 32 doubles teams will compete to advance to th e National Small College Championships in Florida on Oct. 12-15.

Football: The Greyhounds host DII rival Saint Joseph's in a non-conference affair at Key Stadium on Saturday ... QB Casey Gillin ranks fifth in all of Division II in pass efficiency rating ... WR Justin Russell leads the league in receiving yards per game ... UIndy has won 10 straight meetings with the Pumas by an average score of 28-7.
