Greyhounds in the midst of Homecoming Week
 
It’s Homecoming Week again and the Greyhounds are in the middle of a successful fall sports season.  Seven UIndy squads are in action this week, with men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball and football all hosting events.
 
Men’s Soccer: Jon Walker scored both game-winning goals to give the Hounds two wins last weekend ... The GW goals tied Walker for first in the conference with four on the season ... The win on Sunday gave the Hounds five GLVC wins, equaling last season’s total … The Greyhounds are second in the GLVC in goals per game (2.0) ... Individually, Walker sits at second in the league with seven goals scored ... UIndy will host Saint Joseph’s on Thursday evening.

Women’s Soccer: Amanda Reese converted a penalty kick in the final minutes to give UIndy a 1-0 win over Southern Indiana on Sunday ... The Hounds have matched last season’s win total (9) with six games to play … UIndy leads the GLVC in corner kicks with 78 ... Ashley Seehase sits atop the conference with four game-winning goals while Reese is pacing the league with 4.08 shots per game ... The Greyhounds host Saint Joseph’s on Thursday night.

Volleyball: Senior Lynne Ross was named the GLVC Player of the Week, after leading the Hounds to three conference wins last week ... She is tops in the league in hitting percentage and is first in blocks per game in conference matches … The Hounds are currently second in the GLVC with a 6-1 conference record … The squad travels to Saint Francis Tuesday and then returns home to face Wisconsin-Parkside and Lewis on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Women’s Golf: Kristi Piepenbrink won her third tournament of the season, helping UIndy to a 21-stroke win over the competition at the Screaming Eagle Classic on Sunday and Monday ... Three Hounds finished in the top ten at the meet (Piepenbrink-1, Sarah Prascsak-4, Lyndsay McBride-9) … Indianapolis looks to continue its success as it travels to Arlington, Ohio to compete in the Findlay Invitational, a two-day event starting Oct. 1.

Men’s Golf: The Greyhounds competed at the first Great Lakes Regional of the season at GVSU, tying for third as a team ... The tournament featured the top teams in the region … UIndy has won three tournaments on the season and have yet to finish below third ... In all three team victories, a Greyhound has taken medalist honors ... The team will compete in the Murray State Invite on Oct. 2.

Cross Country: Both the men’s and women’s cross country team last competed at the annual Indiana Intercollegiate meet on Sep. 15th, running against Indiana schools from all divisions … The men finished ninth against non-Division I schools, 13th overall while the women finished third versus Little State competitors and ninth overall … The teams are back in action Friday, heading to the Loyola Invite (Chicago, Ill.).

Women’s Tennis: Highlights of the rain-shortened Evansville Invitational included a pair of doubles wins over Division I opponents and three wins in limited singles play … Megan Farley, Melanie Sullivan and Kristen Volz all won their respective lone singles match ... In doubles action, Lindsey Fischer and Ashley Liles defeated a duo from Butler while Aly Neidlinger and Lindsey Loffer downed a pair from Eastern Illinois; both were consolation matches ... The Greyhounds will head to Eastern Illinois University this Saturday and Sunday.

Men’s Tennis: UIndy hosted the 2006 Wilson/ITA Great Lakes Regional last weekend, an event that showcased the top talent in the region ... Jan Stastny and JD Greenlee advanced to the semifinal round in doubles play, winning three matches in the 32-team draw ... Stastny and Alan Dowell advanced to the round of 16 in singles play … The team travels to Dayton, Ohio this weekend to compete in the Wright State Invitational.
