Men's tennis hands Stonehill its first loss

KISSIMMEE, Fla. --
The University of Indianapolis men's tennis team took advantage of its day off on Sunday when it returned to action Monday and handed Stonehill its first loss of the season, 8-1, at Liberty High School.

The Greyhounds (9-3) won all three doubles matches and five of the singles matches to down the Skyhawks (5-1), the No. 10 team in the NCAA Division II East Region.

Alex Poe and Matt Smith at No. 1 and Michael Bradley with Trevor Cox at No. 3 both won 8-3 in doubles, while Preston Swain and Pete Wilson improved to 3-1 at No. 2 with an 8-6 triumph.

The winning continued in singles with Cox at No. 1 (6-4, 6-2), Caleb Fellers at No. 2 (6-2, 6-0), Nick Reinhart at No. 3 (6-2, 6-1) and Wilson at No. 6 (6-4, 6-3) all winning in straight sets.

Swain rounded out the scoring for the Crimson and Grey by fighting back to win at No. 5 in a superbreaker 4-6, 6-2, (10-1).

The Greyhounds conclude their trip to Florida tomorrow at 8 a.m. against Valparaiso.
