Excellence Continues on Day Two at House of Champions

INDIANAPOLIS – After five UIndy team records were broken by the men and the women on Friday night, the Greyhound squads came out on day two for another strong showing on Saturday. In total, seven team records have been broken so far (one has been broken twice during the weekend), and recorded two more for the day. The women are currently placed fifth in the invitational standings, and the men stand proudly at second overall with one day left in the invite.

The men started the meet hot as they dominated the field in the 200 medley relay. The squad that consisted of Rodrigo Codo Berti, Jan Zuchowicz, Antonio Milin, and Victor Antonon touched the wall at a time of 1:28.94. That time gave the Greyhounds an NCAA qualifying time in the event, obtaining it by almost a whole second.

Junior-captain Darian Murray stepped up next and obtained a B-cut of her own, dropping a :55.63 time in the women's 100 fly. That race awarded her a ninth place finish overall. The men then created more B-cuts on some superb swims, as freshman Kael Yorke (:48.53) and junior Ante Lucev (:48.79) went one-two at the finish for the Greyhounds.

Senior George Oancea was the next Greyhound to obtain a B-cut, this time coming on his 3:59.97 time in the men's 400 IM. In the very next event, Krystal Caylor continued to have a stellar meet, where she snagged another B-cut in the women's 200 free. Her third-place, 1:50.12 finish was almost three and a half seconds under the time standard.

Three more B-cuts came around in the men's 200 free, as senior Guilherme Zavaneli secured the third victory of the night on his 1:37.06 swim. Sophomore Adam Rosipal also stayed under the cut, as his 1:39.01 time placed him fifth overall in the event. Senior Vitor Botana was the final Greyhound to get a B-cut in the event, as he placed seventh overall on a time of 1:39.33.

In one of the most memorable moments so far in the meet, the Greyhound men established their dominance as they placed first, second, and third in a DI-heavy men's 100 breast. Jan Zuchowicz officially holds the new UIndy record on his :53.51 victory, as TJ Leseure swam :53.91 this morning for second place, and freshman Antonio Milin touched at :54.95 for third. All three men snagged B-cuts in the event.

Earlier in the morning, Izzi Clark stepped up big and claimed the women's 100 back record, dropping a :55.58 time in the event. The record was previously set by teammate Edda Skoric last night, who ended up placing fourth overall on her :56.06 swim. Both Greyhounds received a B-cut in their races. Rodrigo Codo Berti continued his outstanding meet with another B-cut swim, as he dropped a second place finish in the men's 100 back, timing in at a :48.04.

The Greyhounds finished day two with a second place finish in the men's 800 free relay. Their 6:35.81 time gave them their final national cut of the night. Adam Rosipal, Vitor Botana, Victor Antonon, and Guilherme Zavaneli was the squad who competed in the event.
