ROLLA, Mo.-
Amy Hamilton headlined the UIndy cross country teams' performance at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships held Saturday morning. The Terre Haute, Ind. native finished fifth in the 6-kilometer women's race to earn all-league accolades and was later bestowed GLVC Freshman of the Year plaudits.
Hamilton's finish (22:01.08) helped the Hounds to a sixth-place team showing.
Lindsay Houvener was the next-best UIndy finisher, taking 34th place in 23:56.72.
Kaitlin Boester was six seconds behind for 39th while
Bethany Schroeder was 46th (24:25.51).
Christie Nurkowski (57th),
Stephanie Kennedy (60th) and
Lindsey Sitzman (61st) rounded out the scoring for Indianapolis.
On the men's side, senior
Adam Settle was the top UIndy placer, traversing the 8-kilometer course in 27:46.33. Just behind him was
Michael Landy, who took 48th.
Kean Coy was 64th,
Derek Speer 79th,
Loren New 84th,
Andrew Piropato 86th and
Matthew Wells 93rd as the team took eighth place.
UIndy will now prepare for the NCAA Regionals, set for two weeks (Nov. 8) in Big Rapids, Mich.
