WILDER, Ky.- UIndy's men's soccer squad closed out its regular season with a 2-1 loss at No. 11 Northern Kentucky Sunday afternoon. The Greyhounds fall to 6-6-4 on the season, 5-4-3 in GLVC play. The Norse improve to 13-1-2 overall and 9-1-1 in the GLVC.
The Hounds, coming off of a double-overtime contest with Bellarmine Friday night, faced off with the Norse, who had not played since last Sunday. Northern Kentucky scored on a penalty kick by Steveb Beattie in the 27th minute to get on the board first in the contest. The Norse got off four shots in the first half, while the Greyhounds got off three.
NKU doubled its lead in 60th minute, with Braden Bishop scoring off of a rebound on a save by UIndy keeper
Justin Roberts.
The Greyhounds got on the board in the 66th minute, with
Micah Uemura (pictured) scoring his sixth goal of the season on an assist from
Kurt Grandin. Uemura scored from inside the 18 to the left post to bring the score to 2-1.
In all, both teams took nine shots on the game. NKU was awarded seven corner kick chances to the Hounds' four.
Roberts took the loss in the net for UIndy, making four saves in his complete game effort.
The Greyhounds will travel to Drury to open GLVC Tournament play next Sunday.
