Greyhounds take three wins at Monon Bell Duals

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind.- The Greyhound grapplers came back with three dual wins at the 28th annual Wabash Monon Bell Duals. UIndy lost just one dual on the day, a 26-21 loss to Muskegon, and collected wins against Ohio Northern, Lincoln and Manchester.

The Hounds opened the day on a good note with a 21-18 defeat of Ohio Northern. UIndy collected five wins in the match, with Matt Irwin taking the 141 bout via a 1:55 pin.

UIndy surrendered its lone loss of the day in its second matchup, with a 26-21 loss to Muskegon. The Hounds took four wins against Muskegon, with senior Jimmy Nichols(pictured) taking his 125 bout with a pin of Nouric Reese in 4:33.

Nichols earned another fall in the Greyhounds' third dual of the tournament, taking Jurance Culbreath of Lincoln down in 1:45 in the 125 bout. Keith Smith also won with a fall in the 184 bout, pinning Tom Fritz in 1:18. UIndy won 26-16 against Lincoln, with six wins in the matchup, to run its tournament record to 2-1.

The Greyhounds closed out the Monon Bell Duals with a landslide 45-6 victory against Manchester. UIndy took a loss in just one bout, having to forfeit the heavyweight class. Ethan Harris earned his fourth win of the day at 133, pinning Benjamin Scalise in 2:35, while #J.T. Jenkins# also won with a fall, taking down Roderick Gallegos in 1:23.

Overall, a trio Greyhounds came home from Wabash with a 4-0 record for the tournament, with Nichols, Harris and Irwin all staying perfect on the day.

UIndy heads to the annual Wheaton College Invitational next weekend, with the two-day event scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Friday.
