On tap: UIndy (5-8, 0-4 GLVC) returns home to face a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division schools this week. The Hounds will host Missouri-St. Louis Thursday and league-unbeaten Rockhurst Saturday at Nicoson Hall. The Greyhounds have won two straight at home as they look to notch their first win in conference play.
About UMSL: UIndy owns a dominating 14-5 all-time series edge between the schools. The Tritons have won four straight and six of their last seven games. UMSL has three players averaging double digits in scoring: Aaron Jackson (11.4 ppg) , Alex Jackson (11.0) and Jeremy Brown (10.8). UMSL has a league-leading assist total of 264, nearly 19 per game. That total helps assure the Tritons the top rank in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.54) in the conference and third-best in the country.
About Rockhurst: The Hawks are 4-0 heading into this week in GLVC play. RU will battle Saint Joseph's on Thursday before Saturday's duel with the Greyhounds. In Rockhurst's four years in the league, the Hawks have won two of the three contests against Indianapolis with the lone Greyhound win coming in a 63-52 win last year at Nicoson Hall (Jan. 23). RU is led by Aaron Hill, whose 19.8 points per game average ranks second in the conference. Alden Smith adds 15.3 points per night, sixth-best in the league. The Hawks lead the GLVC in triples made with 110 on the season (9.2 per game), 15th-best mark in all of Division II heading into this week.
UIndy Head Coach Stan Gouard: Stan Gouard is in his first season as the head man at Indianapolis. Gouard was introduced as the new head of the Greyhound program on Apr. 3, 2008. He previously spent three years as an assistant coach at Indiana State following his three-year stint as an assistant at UIndy. While at Indianapolis, Gouard was part of the staff that helped the Hounds to a 47-31 record, advancing to the NCAA tournament all three seasons.
