The UIndy men's tennis team evened its record with a pair of non-conference wins this weekend. The Hounds defeated Ohio Dominican 6-3 on Saturday and bested host Tiffin 8-1 Sunday to improve to 2-2 overall on the season. The doubles teams were impressive, going 6-0 on the weekend.
UIndy 6, Ohio Dominican 3
The Greyhounds grabbed a 3-0 lead after doubles play with the closest match coming at No. 2 where
Taylor Broda and
Steffen Good secured a 8-6 victory. In singles play,
Matt Smith rebounded from a 3-6 loss in the opening set by posting consecutive 6-2 sets for the win at No. 2.
Alex Poe won at No. 3 and Good grabbed a victory at No. 5.
UIndy 8, Tiffin 1
Again, the doubles play allowed the Hounds to run out to a 3-0 lead. The singles lineup produced five more points, winning at all but the top position.
Jeff Price outlasted his opponent at No. 4 (6-2, 6-7, 6-3). All the other matchups were straight-set winners, including a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 6 for
Werner Henning.
The Greyhounds will host the annual alumni event this Sunday at the UIndy Tennis Center.
