INDIANAPOLIS - The UIndy women's soccer team netted three second half goals to top visiting Missouri S&T 3-1 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action on Friday evening at Key Stadium.
The Miners (5-8-1, 5-7-0 GLVC) and Greyhounds battled to a scoreless tie after 45 minutes with UIndy holding a narrow 4-3 shot margin.
Senior
Natalie Dietel broke the tie in the 63rd minute by scoring her first goal of the season off a cross by fellow senior
Ashley Seehase to give the Greyhounds an early 1-0 lead.
Missouri S&T answered with a goal of their own in the 78th minute after Morgan Lockowitz took a Leah Williams pass off a free kick and put it into the back of the net from just outside the box.
Indianapolis regained the lead just under a minute later when Seehase put a ball past Miner keeper Catherine Swift from the top of the 18 to give UIndy a 2-1 advantage. It was the seventh goal of the season for Seehase and her sixth game-winner.
Sophomore midfielder
Morgan Binder sealed the victory for the Hounds in the 88th minute after firing a shot from 25 yards out into the upper right corner of the goal for the final 3-1 tally.
UIndy goalkeeper
Shae Morris picked up her 13th win between the posts and turned away five Miner shots on the evening. Morris now boasts a 0.84 goals against average, a save percentage of .827, and has made 67 saves.
After the win, the Greyhounds improve to 13-4-0 and 10-3-0 in GLVC matchups. Indianapolis will play their final regular season contest on Sunday at Noon as they host GLVC newcomer Maryville on Senior Day.
