INDIANAPOLIS- A crowded house was sent home happy Friday night as the 11th-ranked University of Indianapolis volleyball team earned a sweep win over visiting Bellarmine – 25-14, 25-20, 25-18 – at the Ruth Lilly Center. In UIndy's 13th straight win, freshman
Kourtney Crawford killed seven balls on nine swings without committing an attack error.
Crawford's efforts resulted in a more-than-efficient .778 hitting percentage for the Bishop Chatard grad, part of UIndy's .260 overall percentage. Junior setter
Cheneta Morrison, who finished with 35 assists, spread heo ball around well as seven Greyhounds had at least nine attack attempts, with none totaling more than eight kills.
After Indianapolis cruised to the first-set win, Bellarmine (10-7, 4-5 GLVC) responding by taking a 5-1 lead in the second, as the Knights held the advantage through the first half of the frame.
Later with Bellarmine up 15-11, the Greyhounds ran off six straight to take control. UIndy would own at least a one-point edge the rest of the way to go up 2-0.
The Knights built a slight cushion midway through the third as well, but the Hounds again strung together a set-changing rally. BU led 16-13 before the home team orchestrated another 6-0 run, one from which the Knights ultimately would not recover.
Sophomore
Hannah Kelzer paced the team with eight kills while earning two block assists.
Kristina Kerrigan added seven kills,
Courtney Anglemyer chipped in six kills, and
Lyndsay Callahan amassed five kills and 11 digs.
UIndy (27-1, 8-1) remains at home to host a solid Northern Kentucky team tomorrow at 3 p.m. A free video webcast of the match will be available at
