Box Score

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Greyhound women's soccer team celebrated Senior Day festivites with a 5-1 win over Great Lakes Valley Conference foe Maryville University on Sunday afternoon at Key Stadium.  UIndy also earned the fourth seed in the GLVC Tournament after a Wisconsin-Parkside victory over Drury in other conference action.

The Greyhound struck early and often against the visiting Saints with the first Indianapolis goal coming in the 13th minute from the foot of senior forward Ashley Seehase.  Seehase finished a pass from fellow senior Kate Donnelly to give the Hounds the early 1-0 lead.

Seehase netted her second goal of the match and seventh game-winner of the season just under four minutes later after finishing a long pass from senior Amanda Reese to push the UIndy lead to 2-0.

Reese would get onto the score sheet in the 22nd minute, netting a goal on a shot that caromed off the post and Maryville keeper before crossing the goal line for a 3-0 Indianapolis lead.  Chaunell Abrams was credited with the assist on the play after setting up the score on a long pass to Reese.

The Greyhounds would add yet another goal in the first half courtesy of freshman Shelby Spinelli.  Spinelli slipped a ball past Saint goalkeeper Jena Casagrande after receiving a pass from Seehase for the senior's fifth point of the match and the final tally of the first half of play.

Indianapolis continued their offensive attack in the second half and took at 5-0 lead after a Greyhound cross was deflected into the Maryville net by a Saint defender.

Maryville (5-11-1, 4-9-1 GLVC) would get the game's final goal on a shot by Carolina Jaycox in the 82nd minute to make the final mark 5-1 in favor of UIndy.

Sophomore netminder Shae Morris held the Saints off the scoreboard in the first half and turned away a trio of Maryville shots, while freshman keeper Danielle Bennett collected three saves of her own in the final 45 minutes.

Indianapolis will conclude the regular season with a 14-4-0 record and 11-3-0 mark in conference play.  The Greyhounds will host Wisconsin-Parkside in the first round of the GLVC Tournament on Sunday, November 1.
