Greyhounds make it five in a row

Box score

INDIANAPOLIS- The 12th-ranked University of Indianapolis volleyball team stretched its winning streak to five with a sweep versus Quincy Saturday afternoon at the Ruth Lilly Center.  All 15 Greyhounds got in the box score, including Lyndsay Callahan, who hit .421 with nine kills, 12 digs and an ace.

After taking the opening set, the second frame marked UIndy's most efficient of the day.  The Hounds killed 17 balls on 27 swings while committing just one error, good for a lofty .593 percentage.  UIndy cruised to the 25-10 second-set win, with sophomore Hannah Kelzer hitting a perfect 4-for-4 in the frame.

Though the Hounds eventually earned the sweep, the third was very nearly not the last.  With UIndy seemingly in control at 16-9, the Lady Hawks (2-15, 1-5 GLVC) ran off seven straight points to knot it at 16 and force an Indianapolis timeout.

UIndy scored the first two points out of the stoppage, but Quincy responded by again tying the score.  The visitors would later go up 23-20 and looked to force another frame.

Despite being out of substitutions, the talented Greyhounds would not concede the set.  UIndy scored five unanswered to send the Hawks home early, thanks in part to big plays from its freshmen, as a double block from Katy Watson and Lindsay Marks tied it at 23 and back-to-back kills from Kristina Kerrigan put the Hounds over the top.

Kerrigan paced all players with 10 kills, Cheneta Morrison had 28 assists and eight digs, and sophomore Courtney Anglemyer killed seven of her 10 attempts.

UIndy (19-1, 5-1) begins a three-match road swing next week, beginning with a contest at Urbana University Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
