Sweep wins continue to mount for Hounds

EVANSVILLE, Ind.- The 12th-ranked University of Indianapolis volleyball team picked up its seventh consecutive victory and fifth straight sweep with a 25-14, 25-14, 25-20 win against Southern Indiana Friday night at PAC Arena.  Junior Lyndsay Callahan amassed 10 kills against zero attack errors.

The Screaming Eagles (10-9, 4-3 GLVC) led 4-3 early in the first set, but UIndy put the pedal down with a 10-2 run to take control.  The run featured four attack errors and two service errors from the home team.

The Hounds got out of the gate quickly in the second, scoring 13 points before USI hit four.  Later, Cheneta Morrison killed the final three points for UIndy to ensure a second straight 25-14 set win.

The final set, USI fought to a 9-9 tie before the Hounds surged to a five-point lead.  The Eagles rallied for four straight to make it 17-16 Hounds, but Indianapolis answered with a 5-0 run before completing the sweep with a 25-20 win.

Outside hitters Callahan and Kristina Kerrigan combined to hit .440 with 24 kills.  Callahan recorded her sixth double-double of the season with a match-high 14 digs.  Senior Kyleigh Turner had 13 digs and two aces and junior Cheneta Morrison accounted for 36 assists and seven digs.

UIndy (21-1, 6-1) crosses the Ohio River tomorrow for a early match at Kentucky Wesleyan.  Start time is scheduled for noon Eastern.
