Did you know?: The University of Indianapolis will host the NCAA Division II Volleyball Midwest Regional at the Ruth Lilly Fitness Center.  It is the first time UIndy has been the host site.  UIndy will take on eight-seed Michigan Tech Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the quarterfinals.

Volleyball: UIndy (35-1) captured its second-ever Great Lakes Valley Conference title with a 3-1 win over host Lewis Sunday.  The win earned UIndy a number of distinctions.  It secured the Greyhounds' second GLVC title and first since 2003, upped the program-record season win total to 35, avenged the Hounds' only loss of the season, and also snapped the Flyers 41 match home winning streak.  The Greyhounds' 21st straight victory helped them earn the top seed in the Midwest Region, giving them hosting rights for the upcoming NCAA tournament.  The eight-team regional begins Thursday and runs through Saturday at the Ruth Lilly Fitness Center.

Women's Soccer: UIndy dropped a 1-0 decision to fourth-seeded Bellarmine in the first round of the NCAA tournament Friday at Grand Valley State.  Indianapolis concludes their season with a 15-6-0 mark after finishing Great Lakes Valley Conference play with a record of 11-3-0. The Hounds were making their second NCAA appearance in school history.

Swimming and Diving:
The Greyhound swimming teams each took sixth place at the annual House of Champions Invite, hosted by IUPUI at the IU Natatorium Friday and Saturday.  The meet featured teams from the host school, Ashland, Ball State, Butler, Xavier, Western Illinois and UIndy.  Highlights included Guy Kogel winning the 200 butterfly in an NCAA A-cut time and taking second in a B-cut time in the 200 freestyle (1:42.08).  Maura Donahue grabbed NCAA B-times with her 100 freestyle finish (second- 52.85) and 50 free (fourth- 24.47). Both teams will compete in the Wabash Invitational Friday and Saturday in Crawfordsville, Ind.

Men's Basketball: The Greyhound men's basketball team opened its regular season schedule with a 79-60 win at Nicoson Hall Sunday evening.  UIndy (1-0) used a 24-4 run in the second half to pull away and post the win.  DeWann Squires (18 pts.) led a group of four Greyhounds that tallied double digits scoring: Sergey Struck (16), Darius Adams (14), Ryan Sims (13).  UIndy will head to Carbondale, Ill. for a battle with the Southern Illinois Salukis on Tuesday.  Tip time is slated for 8:05 p.m. Eastern time.

Women's Basketball:
The 11th-ranked University of Indianapolis women's basketball team received a 20-point game from both Samantha Meissel (22 pts.) and Jessica Canary (20) in its 66-50 win over St. Catharine at Nicoson Hall Sunday afternoon.  Meissel and Canary combined for 42 points and each neared a career milestone.  UIndy (1-0) hits the road next week when it travels to Saginaw Valley State Nov. 21 for an in-region contest.  A rare double milestone could be set in that game, as Canary (5 points) and Meissel (20 points) are both within reach of 1,000 career points.

Wrestling:  The University of Indianapolis placed four wrestlers in the top six in their respective weight brackets at the Michigan State Open on Sunday.  J.T. Jenkins led the Hounds with a second-place finish in the freshman/sophomore 174-pound class, while Ethan Harris, Nick Walpole and David Lopez all placed fourth in their weight brackets.  The Greyhound grapplers will be back in action next Sunday when they travel to Columbia, Missouri to compete in the Missouri Open.  Action is slated to begin at 9:00 AM.
