Indianapolis (1-1)
Nicoson Hall
Nov. 21, 7:30 pm ET

RADIO:  WICR 88.7 FM
AUDIO WEBCAST:  wicr.uindy.edu
LIVE STATS:  www.sidearmstats.com/uindy/mbball/xlive.htm

On tap:  The Greyhounds welcome Findlay to Nicoson Hall Saturday night.  The Oilers (2-0) are the NCAA Division II defending national champions and bring a 38-game winning streak into the contest.  UF went unscathed through its 2008-09 schedule (36-0) and won the national title on a buzzer-beating triple by graduated-senior Tyler Evans.

About Findlay:  Head Coach Ron Niekamp is entering his 25th season as the head coach of the men’s basketball team at The University of Findlay during the 2009-10 season.  During Niekamp’s tenure, he has compiled an overall record of 552-174 and a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference record of 164-49, which includes a GLIAC South Division regular season championship in 1999, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009. His Oilers have also captured four GLIAC Tournament championships in 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2009.

UIndy Head Coach Stan Gouard:  Stan Gouard is in his second season and carries a 10-19 record as the Greyhound front man.  He previously spent three years as an assistant coach at Indiana State following his three-year stint as an assistant at UIndy.  While at Indianapolis, Gouard was part of the staff that helped the Hounds to a 47-31 record, advancing to the NCAA tournament all three seasons.

SIU Recap:  Southern Illinois fended-off a tough Greyhound squad in earning an 84-69 win in men’s basketball action Tuesday night at SIU Arena.  Junior Darius Adams came off the bench to lead all scorers with 21 points on the night, part of four Greyhounds in double figures.

GLVC “B”East:  The Great Lakes Valley Conference, with the additions of Maryville and Illinois-Springfield, has gone to a 15-team league with three divisions for basketball.  It would be tough to find a tougher division of hoops than in the GLVC East, where UIndy will battle four teams that were nationally-ranked at one point last season.  Bellarmine, Northern Kentucky, Southern Indiana and Kentucky Wesleyan all advanced to the NCAA tournament last season.  To boot, Bellarmine goes into the 2009-10 campaign as the top team in the Division II Bulletin Preseason poll.

Transfer Tallies:  The Hounds are getting strong production from their incoming transfers.  The top four leading scorers are all first-year Greyhounds, led by junior college transfer Darious Adams (17.5).  Another former juco DeWann Squires chips-in 14 per game while Division I transfers Ryan Sims (14) and Nate Blank (10) help the foursome make-up three-quarters of UIndy’s total point output this season.

Tough Stretch:  UIndy is in the midst of one of the toughest stretches in its schedule.  The Hounds battled Division I Southern Illinois Tuesday and welcome the defending Division II national champion Findlay squad Saturday.  Following a road trip to Urbana the Hounds open Great Lakes Valley Conference play with perennial power Northern Kentucky.

Hounds on Radio:  Once again, the Greyhounds will be broadcast on WICR 88.7 FM live!  Join the crew as they bring you all the play-by-play action.  You can also catch the Greyhounds on the Internet via live streaming.  Get details at http://wicr.uindy.edu.
