INDIANAPOLIS- Aided by 12 digs from senior
Kyleigh Turner, the 10th-ranked University of Indianapolis volleyball team made quick work of visiting Maryville Saturday afternoon, sweeping the Saints 25-9, 25-11 and 25-10. In the final regular-season match at the Ruth Lilly Center, UIndy honored Turner as the lone senior on the squad during the Senior Day festivities.
The match was possibly the last at RLC for Turner*. The four-year starting libero helped the Greyhounds go 40-7 (.851) at home in her four seasons, part of a 118-25 (.825) overall mark. The 118 victories represent the highest total in program history over any four-year span.
The contest lasted only 50 minutes, as the Greyhounds out-hit the Saints (4-24, 1-13 GLVC) .376 to -.056. Freshman
Kristina Kerrigan led the team in kills (10) and attack attempts (20) and shared the lead with four block assists. Junior
Lyndsay Callahan hit .444 with nine kills and seven digs,
Cheneta Morrison added 27 assists and a match-high 13 digs, and
Courtney Anglemyer killed six balls on seven swings.
UIndy (32-1, 13-1) is off to the Romeoville, Ill. for the conference tournament next week. Lewis University earned the top seed and hosting duties, with the Hounds locking down the two seed. UIndy is scheduled to face seventh-seeded Drury (16-13) at 3:30 p.m. Eastern on Friday, Nov. 13.
