LEXINGTON, Ky.- A record three University of Indianapolis volleyball players earned All-Americans accolades from the American Volleyball Coaches Association, one more than the number of previous UIndy honorees combined. Junior setter
Cheneta Morrison (1st team), senior libero
Kyleigh Turner (3rd team) and junior outside hitter
Lyndsay Callahan (honorable mention) all garnered recognition from the nation's coaches, with Morrison having the distinction of being UIndy's first All-American First Team honoree.
Cheneta Morrison is the only Midwest Region player on the 14-woman first team. The junior is having a spectacular year in her first collegiate season at the setter's position. The Fort Wayne, Ind. native helped the Hounds rank sixth in all of Division II in team hitting percentage (.282) and 14th in assists per set (13.09). She is also averaging 2.61 digs and 1.74 kills per set.
Four-year starting libero
Kyleigh Turner, the lone senior on the squad, holds the school record for most digs in a season and in a career, compiling over 2,500 digs in her career. The Muncie, Ind. native has been a part of 124 wins in her time at UIndy, the most over any four-year span.
Junior outside hitter
Lyndsay Callahan grabbed her first All-American nod from the AVCA. Also a primary passer, Callahan achieved a pair of milestones this year by becoming just the fourth Greyhound ever to compile 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs.
Callahan and Morrison are first-time All-Americans while Turner earned All-American Honorable Mention from the AVCA last season. All three became eligible for All-American recognition after earning All-Midwest Region First Team accolades.
