Track opens season at Wabash

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind.-  The Greyhound track and field teams officially opened their 2009-10 schedule, competing in the Robert Johnson Early Bird Invitational at Wabash College Saturday afternoon. 

Winners at the meet included Courtney Kuzmicz, who took titles in both the shotput and weight throw.  Asia Cammack won the 55-meter hurdles (9.44), then helped the 4X200 relay team to a first-place finish (1:54.14).  Krista Leffers won the high jump (5'0"), Kara Gill was the pole vault winner (9'6") and Valerie Wagner won the long jump (16'9.25") while Rachal Robertson (31'11.5") took the triple jump crown. 

On the men's side, Michael Landy outdistanced the field in the mile run (4:35).  Courtny Cotten won the 55-meter hurdles (8.26) and the 4X200 relay was victorious (1:31.88).  The 4X400 relay finished in first with a 3:40.69 time. Randall Hudi won the long jump (22'9.25") and Matt Royer easily won the weight throw (58'1") to round out the winning performances for Indianapolis.

UIndy will head to Allendale, Mich. to compete in the Grand Valley State holiday Open this Friday and Saturday in the final competition of the calendar year.
