INDIANAPOLIS-  John Higgins has been named UIndy Interim Head Men's Soccer Coach following the resignation of John Griffin, announced today by school officials.  His appointment will begin immediately.  Higgins spent the last two seasons on staff after a wrapping up a superb playing career at UIndy.

"We're fortunate to have John Higgins on staff to lead us in the off-season," said Director of Athletics Dr. Sue Willey.  "We play in one of the toughest conferences for men's soccer and to have someone with that direct knowledge and insight to keep our program moving in the right direction is invaluable."

Higgins finished out his playing career with the Hounds in 2007, earning second team All-GLVC and second team NSCAA All-Region recognition. The senior tallied five goals and two assists in his final season on the field for UIndy. In addition to his exploits on the field, Higgins earned a spot on the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 5 team, and also earned Academic All-GLVC honors for the fourth time as a senior.

In all, Higgins tallied 17 goals and 13 assists in his four years on the pitch in a Greyhound uniform.

"I'm super excited about the opportunity I have here," Higgins said of his alma mater.  "We have a great squad and I'm very passionate about this university.  I'm going to work as hard as I can to make the best out of this chance I have and see the team do well."
