INDIANAPOLIS- The UIndy wrestling squad earned its first dual meet victory of the year, besting visiting Trine University 18-15 at the Ruth Lilly Fitness Center Thursday. A pin from senior Lynn Panko in the final bout of the night pushed the Greyhounds to the win, their first dual meet victory of the 2009-10 season.

UIndy took the 6-0 lead out of the gates with a pair of wins at 125 and 133 from Alex Johns and Ethan Harris. Johns defeated his Thunder opponent 2-0, while Harris took care of his Trine competitor 3-1.

After a loss from Trey Weliver at 141, David Lopez rebounded for the Greyhounds with an 8-2 win at 149. Trine pushed the overall score back to within three, at 9-6 in favor of UIndy, with a win in the next bout. Jake Holler answered back with another three points for UIndy with a 4-2 win in the 165 match.

The Thunder continued to stay in the match, however, taking a 9-6 decision in the 174 bout to run the score to 12-9, and then tying the score 12-12 with a 1-0 win in the 184 bout. Trine would then take its only lead of the match with a 9-8 win in the 197 bout.

Panko became the hero of the match in the heavyweight bout, pinning Trine's Brett Worden in 3:48 to earn six points and give UIndy the 18-15 win.

The Greyhound grapplers return to the mat Sunday, traveling up I-65 for the Purdue Duals.
