On tap:  The Greyhounds open conference play Thursday, hosting arch-rival Northern Kentucky at Nicoson Hall.  The perennial power Norse come into the week with a 4-2 record and are looking to extend their winning streak in the series to 10 straight.  UIndy will take to the road for the final time in the 2009 calendar year to battle Lake Erie Sunday before embarking on a six-game homestand.

About NKU:  The Norse are 4-2 with losses to NCAA tourney regulars Grand Valley State and Gannon.  The game with the Knights featured a very low scoring affair with Gannon scraping-out a 40-38 win in Erie, Pa.  NKU made just 32 percent of its shots in the loss and was just 1-for-18 (.056) from three-point range.

Series Record with NKU:  The Norse own a 33-27 all-time lead in the series between the two schools.  The Norse have recorded nine straight wins with the last  UIndy win coming back on Feb. 12, 2005 at NKU's Regent's Hall.

About LEC:  Lake Erie is 2-6 on the season.  The Storm's wins are over Ohio Valley and Gannon.  Lake Erie will play California (Pa.) on Tuesday night and then will host Edinboro a night prior to Sunday's meeting with the Hounds.

Series Record with LEC:  Sunday will be the first meeting between the schools.  Lake Erie is a new member to NCAA Division II, joining as an independant member last season.  The Storm will move into the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) in 2010-11.

UIndy Head Coach Stan Gouard Stan Gouard is in his second season and carries an 11-20 record as the Greyhound front man.  He previously spent three years as an assistant coach at Indiana State following his three-year stint as an assistant at UIndy.  While at Indianapolis, Gouard was part of the staff that helped the Hounds to a 47-31 record, advancing to the NCAA tournament all three seasons.

Last Time Out:  Host Urbana outscored the UIndy men's basketball team 14-4 in the final three minutes to earn an 87-77 win at the Grimes Center Tuesday evening. The Blue Knights overcame an 11-point first-half deficit to garner the victory. Larry Woods led UIndy with 19 points, a dozen of those coming in the first half. Nate Blank scored 17, Darius Adams had 14 and DeWann Squires chipped-in 11.

Crashing the Boards:  The Greyhounds are out-rebounding their opponents this season, averaging 3.3 more boards per game.  UIndy grabbed 44 rebounds in each of their wins this season.  The Hounds own an 88-66 advantage in rebounds combined in their two wins.  When UIndy owns the rebounding advantage, it is 2-0, when its opponent has the edge, UIndy is 0-2 thus far this season.

GLVC “B”East:  The Great Lakes Valley Conference, with the additions of Maryville and Illinois-Springfield, has gone to a 15-team league with three divisions for basketball.  It would be tough to find a tougher division of hoops than in the GLVC East, where UIndy will battle four teams that were nationally-ranked at one point last season.  Bellarmine, Northern Kentucky, Southern Indiana and Kentucky Wesleyan all advanced to the NCAA tournament last season.  To boot, Bellarmine goes into the 2009-10 campaign as the top team in the Division II Bulletin Preseason poll.

Hounds on TV:  The Greyhounds are again scheduled to be on television this season with expanded coverage being provided on the UIndy Television Network.  Produced by HomeTown Television, the following five games will be televised via tape-delay and will air on HomeTown Sports Indiana (Comcast and Brighthouse): Dec. 3, Jan. 16 & 23, Feb. 6 & 15.  Also, select home games will air via webstream and will be available.  Check athletics.uindy.edu and click on “Live Stream” for more info.
