INDIANAPOLIS-  The University of Indianapolis men's basketball team remained perfect at home this year with a 73-69 win over visiting Saginaw Valley State Tuesday night at Nicoson Hall.  With the victory, the Hounds upped their home mark to 6-0 this season.

The bulk of UIndy's scoring came from the perimeter as the Greyhounds knocked down a dozen three-point shots in the contest on 30 looks (40 percent).  The key run in the game came midway through the second half when the Greyhounds turned a slim one-point lead into a ten-point cushion over a five-minute stretch.  Five points from Ryan Sims and four more from Darius Adams fueled the run and UIndy never looked back, taking a 59-49 advantage with just over eight minutes left.

SVSU (6-3) managed to whittle the margin down to three, 66-63 with 2:44 left.  But, a big momentum-shifting three from DeWann Squires, his fourth of the half and fifth of the night, pushed it back to a two possession game and UIndy claimed its third in-region win of the season.

It was a see-saw opening half with the lead changing hands five times and four more ties.  Five different Greyhounds had at least one triple in the opening half and Sergey Struck had two from deep en route to a 10-point, nine-rebound night for Indianapolis.

Squires led the Greyhounds with 15 points with Sims adding 13, Adams 12 and Struck 10.  Adams had an up-and-down night, grabbing nie rebounds and handing-out seven assists but registering 10 turnovers in the process.  Keithan Jackson and Greg Foster each had 21 points for the Cardinals.

UIndy (6-3) will break for a week before hosting Robert Morris (Ill.) on Dec. 29.

Notes: UIndy earned its sixth home win of the season, surpassing last year's total of five ... Squires has hit 30-of-41 shots over the last three games (73.2 percent) ... UIndy has won three straight games for the second time in head coach Stan Gouard's tenure, the last streak also including a win over SVSU (79-75 on Dec. 22, 2008).
