INDIANAPOLIS- The University of Indianapolis men's basketball team opened the Great Lakes Valley Conference portion of their schedule with a win Thursday night at Nicoson Hall, besting Northern Kentucky 55-54. Junior transfer Darius Adams put up his career-best in a Greyhound uniform to lead UIndy to it's first win over NKU since 2005.

NKU (4-3, 0-1 GLVC) held control for most of the first half, leading by as many as 11 points.

The Greyhounds (3-2, 1-0 GLVC) took their first lead of the ballgame with 49 seconds to play in the first half on a three-ball from Nate Blank. A layup with one second on the clock from Adams sent the teams into the intermission with UIndy on top, 31-28, and capped a 16-point run by the Greyhounds to close out the half. Eight of the 16 during the run came from Adams, who finished the half with 18 points.

UIndy opened the half with a 7-2 run to push the score to 38-30, prompting a Norse timeout. Neither team scored for more than three minutes, before a Blank three-pointer broke the drought, giving UIndy an 11-point lead.

NKU cut the UIndy lead to just two with 2:03 on the clock on a pair of free throws by David Palmer. The Norse knotted the ballgame at 49-49 following a Greyhound turnover and a jumper by Chris Knight. Adams put UIndy back on top 51-49 with just more than a minute to play.

A three-point basket by Palmer with the shot-clock winding down and 38 seconds on the gameclock gave the Norse the momentary lead, before Adams answered back with a triple to put the Greyhounds up, 53-52 with 28 seconds to play.

The Norse recaptured the lead with six seconds on the clock on a jumper in the paint from Dustin Maguire, but Adams took the ball coast-to-coast, drawing the foul under the UIndy basket. A pair of makes on the ensuing free throws closed out the 55-54 Greyhound win.

Adams' 28 led all scorers, while his 10 rebounds were also best in the game. Knight led NKU with 10 points on the night.

UIndy takes to the road for a Sunday match-up with Lake Erie. Tip is set for 3:00 p.m.

NOTES: Prior to tonight's meeting, UIndy had not beat NKU since a road win at Regent's Hall on Feb. 12, 2005.
