Men's and women's soccer programs honored with NSCAA Team Academic Awards

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The University of Indianapolis' men's and women's soccer programs were recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for their success in the classroom by earning the 2009 College Team Academic Award.

The NSCAA honors those programs who have posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the 2008-09 academic year.  A total of 575 teams (143 men, 332 women) were recognized by the NSCAA for their academic success.  Of that total, 99 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized, including UIndy.

The Greyhound men's program accumulated a team GPA of 3.16, while the women's team amassed a cumulative GPA of 3.35 and earned the honor for the third year in a row.

The UIndy women finished the 2009 season with a final mark of 15-6 and earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament, falling 1-0 to Bellarmine in the opening round.  The Greyhound men wrapped up their campaign with a record of 8-7-2.
