Four Greyhounds selected to NSCAA All-Midwest Region teams

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Four University of Indianapolis women's soccer players were selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) NCAA Division II All-Midwest Region teams in an announcement by the NSCAA earlier today.  Freshman Shelby Spinelli was selected to the first team, while senior Amanda Reese earned a spot on the second team, and senior Ashley Seehase and freshman Haley Miller received third team accolades.

Spinelli, who was selected as the GLVC Freshman of the Year earlier this season, led the Greyhounds with seven assists and added eight goals to finish her freshman campaign with 23 points.  The Indianapolis native made an immediate impact for UIndy this season, starting 20 of 21 games and connected on a pair of game-winning goals, including the penalty kick that gave Indianapolis its first win over Wisconsin-Parkside since 1999.

Reese capped her senior season by scoring four goals and adding four assists for 12 points, including three game-winning tallies.  Reese was also honored earlier this season by being selected to the All-GLVC second team, her fourth All-GLVC selection in her career.  The Ft. Wayne native capped her career in a Greyhound uniform by netting 31 goals, tallying 20 assists, the second most in school history, and ranks third in school history with 82 career points.

Seehase, who garnered Daktronics All-Midwest Region second team honors and a first team All-GLVC selection earlier in the year, led the Greyhounds offensively with 10 goals and 23 points in her senior season.  Seehase finished her career at UIndy with 38 goals, 21 assists, and 97 points and holds Greyhound records for most game-winning goals in a season (8) and a career (20) and career assists (21).  The Indianapolis native also ranks second in Indianapolis women's soccer program history with 97 career points, 38 career goals, and 4447 minutes played.  Seehase and fellow senior Amanda Reese also share the school record for most career starts and games played with 79.

Miller earned a third team selection for her stellar efforts in the Greyhound backfield.  The freshman defender was a key member of the UIndy defensive unit that allowed just 19 goals in 21 contests and earned nine shutouts.  Miller appeared in 19 games and made 16 starts in her first season as a Hound, firing five shots with a pair attempts being on goal.
