INDIANAPOLIS – UIndy senior
Justin Hueber is one of an elite group of collegiate golfers up for consideration for the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) international teams. The GCAA is co-host to two annual international collegiate golf competitions, the Palmer Cup and the USA vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship. Member coaches will select two groups of U.S. college golfers to represent the United States in these prestigious events.
The 2009 Palmer Cup, named after golf legend Arnold Palmer, is a Ryder Cup-style competition between top collegians from the United States and Europe. This year's event will take place in Denver, Colo. June 3-5 and will be hosted by Cherry Hills Country Club, the site Palmer's 1960 U.S. Open victory. The United States leads the all-time Palmer Cup series 6-5-1.
Unfortunately, the GCAA's other annual international competition, USA vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship, has been cancelled this year. However, The GCAA is close to reaching an agreement to compete in an event versus Canada and Mexico. This event would be held at a world-class resort facility in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in late July.
Hueber and the 16th-ranked Greyhounds start their highly anticipated championship season at the Minnesota State Spring Classic Mar. 10 in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
