Men's Soccer adds three for 2009
INDIANAPOLIS- Head Coach John Griffin added a trio of players to his 2009 roster on signing day, with Bobby Adkins, Ryan MacArthur and Corey Nelson all committing to play for the Greyhound men's soccer squad.

Adkins comes to UIndy from Utica High School in Utica, Mich. The forward/midfielder lettered all four years on the soccer field, scoring a total of 53 goals and added 44 assists in his prep career. He was an All-Macomb County first team and an MSHAA All-District team selection three times. Adkins was named an MSHAA All-State Division I honorable mention as a sophomore, earned a spot on the MSHAA All-State third team as a junior, and the All-State second team as a senior. He also earned selection twice to the MSHAA All-Regional team, and was a two-time Macomb County White Division MVP, leading his squad to Macomb County White Division championships as a junior and a senior.

In addition to soccer, Adkins was also a two-year letterwinner on the gridiron as a kicker and a punter, and was also a four-year All-Academic team honoree. He played club soccer with Vardar for eight years, with his team making it to the Michigan State Cup Finals five years and winning it in 2003. Adkins also played with the Michigan state ODP team for four years, and was on the Region II team in 2006 and 2005. He was also on the national roster in 2005.

MacArthur comes to the Greyhounds from Zimmerman, Minn. The center midfielder/forward earned four letters in soccer and two in track at Zimmerman High School, where he scored 63 goals and dished out 31 assists in three seasons. MacArthur was a three-time All-Conference selection and a two-time conference MVP. He earned his team's MVP and golden boot award three times, and the conference golden boot twice. MacArthur was also a two-time all-state selection as a prep, a two-time team captain and was named all-metro first team as a senior.

On the club field, MacArthur played with Bangu Tsunami. His squad was a three-time state cup winner and was ranked in the top 10 in the nation. He also played for six years on the Minnesota ODP team.

Nelson is the local addition to the 2009 UIndy roster, coming from Pike High School in Indianapolis. Nelson earned three letters in soccer at Pike, playing forward, midfield and defender. He scored 33 goals in his prep career, and added 22 assists. Nelson was a two-time All-Conference selection and was named to hoosierfutbol.com's top 60 juniors. He was an honorable mention all-county as a junior and a first team all-county selection as a senior. he also earned a spot on the first team all-district and the second team all-state as a senior. During Nelson's career, Pike earned two conference titles, a regional title and semi-state appearance and three sectional titles.

Off the soccer field, Nelson was a four-year honor roll student. He played club soccer for four years for Dynamo FC, and was a three-year member of Indiana's ODP state team.
