CINCINNATI, Ohio- The Greyhound track and field teams competed at the Oliver Nikoloff Invite in the campus of the University of Cincinnati this past weekend. The UIndy men took third in the team standings while the Greyhound women finished fourth.
Amy Schmitz hit an automatic-qualifying mark in the hammer throw with a 55.07 meter effort, while two more Greyhounds marked NCAA provisionally-qualifying marks, both also coming from the UIndy throwers.
Andrea Horban grabbed her provisional with a runner-up toss of 14.05 meters in the shot put, while
Willie Little got a provisional in the hammer, just missing out on an automatic qualifier with his 58.41-meter throw.
Horban nearly pulled a provisional in the hammer as well, falling just more than a quarter-meter shy of the standard, finishing fourth (49.22m).
Courtney Kuzmicz took fifth in the event (46.72m).
Seth Galloway won the javelin throw with a 58.52-meter distance, missing his provisional by just a half-meter.
Grant Dean took first (6.65m) while
Skyler Mattox second (6.60m) in the long jump.
Emily Schaf took runner-up honors in the triple jump (10.76m) and also finished fourth in the high jump (1.63m).
Michael Landy finished behind only a pair of UC runners in the 1500-meter run, crossing in 3:58.41.
UIndy will now prepare for meets at Eastern Illinois and Purdue this weekend.
