INDIANAPOLIS-
Amy Schmitz and
Seth Galloway have each been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference's Field Athletes of the Week, according to a release by league officials Tuesday. Both were honored for their performances at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational held at the University of Cincinnati last Friday.
Schmitz has already punched her ticket to the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships with her automatic-qualifying toss of 55.07 meters in the hammer throw. Her toss ranks her second in the nation and first in the GLVC.
Galloway dominated in the javelin with a provisional toss of 59.52, which puts him sixth in the nation and first in the league. His throw helped him claim the title in the event, among predominantly Division I competition.
The Greyhounds prepare for meets at Eastern Illinois and Purdue this weekend.
