Wrestling:  UIndy introduced Josh Hardman as its new head wrestling coach.  Hardman comes to the university after four years at the helm of the wrestling program at Dakota Wesleyan University, where he mentored 24 NAIA national qualifiers, three All-Americans and four NWCA Scholar All-Americans during his stint.  Prior to DWU, Hardman served as an assistant coach at then-Division II South Dakota State University, where he coached nine national qualifiers, one national runner-up, five All-Americans and seven National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-Americans. SDSU also placed 10th in the national tournament while Hardman was on the staff. He also served as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Division III Manchester College, helping produce one national champion, seven national qualifiers, four All-Americans and two NWCA Scholar All-Americans.  Hardman officially begins his duties at UIndy May 15.

Baseball:  With help from the Great Lakes Valley Conference's Pitcher and Player of the Week, UIndy split a four-game set with rival Saint Joseph's last weekend.  Senior Ben Sondgeroth hit four homeruns last week to earn position player honors, while junior Cory White garnered two victories on the hill to receive pitcher accolades.  Sondgeroth smacked four homers and drove-in seven in the series to give him the league lead in RBI (46) and makes him second in HRs (10).  White fired nine innings of shutout ball, including two in relief, to earn two wins and up his GLVC-leading record to 8-0.  The Hounds (29-16, 17-7 GLVC) travel to former league-member SIU Edwardsville Wednesday before the final four conference home games this weekend, hosting Wisconsin-Parkside at Greyhound Park.

Softball: The Greyhounds (27-13, 16-4 GLVC) continued their hot streak, running their win streak to nine straight with sweeps of Hillsdale and Saint Joseph's last week.  UIndy currently sits in second place in the league standings and has already qualified for the conference championships in two weeks.  The team outscored its opponents 28-1 in the four games, having its 42-inning scoreless streak snapped in the finale.  Junior Megan Russell continues to lead the conference in homers (14), RBI (40) and total bases (98).  Her 1.16 ERA is currently second-best in the league as well.  UIndy heads Kentucky Wesleyan and Southern Indiana this weekend to close out the regular season.

Track and Field:  The Greyhound track and field team competed at the Eastern Kentucky Open Friday.  Seth Galloway notched a new school record in the javelin to highlight the day's competition.  Galloway's throw of 61.82 meters was good for runner-up honors, second behind only Tennessee's Nathaniel Couture.  Galloway's effort was one of several top ten performances by the Greyhounds at the Open.  Kierra Allen won the 400-meter dash with a 58.10 time.  Christina Carrick finished sixth in the event.  Three Hounds finished in the top six in the women's 100-meter dash.  Nichelle Curtis was third, Shanese McGregor fifth and Ashley DeVries sixth.  Three Hounds were in the top seven in the women's 200-meter dash with Curtis leading the way in third, Allen fourth and Saidat Sanuth seventh.  Katie Dewey ran a 2:19.69 800-meter race to finish eighth. UIndy competes at the Hillsdale Relays and the Stan Lyons Invitational this weekend.

Women's Tennis:  The women's tennis team (10-10, 5-5 GLVC) split a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference matches to end its regular season this weekend.  The Hounds ran past Kentucky Wesleyan 7-2 before Sunday's 5-2 loss to host Bellarmine.  Meghan Teunis did not lose a game in singles play this week, dispatching a pair of opponents at the No. 5 position for UIndy.  She beat Heather Allgood of KWC in a pro set 8-0, and followed on Sunday with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Bellarmine's Keyly Knechtel for UIndy's lone singles point against the Knights.  Teunis leads the team with her 16-5 singles record, including a sparkling 9-1 conference mark. UIndy will enter the league championships as the fifth seed in the eight-team tournament.  The Greyhounds and Knights will square off again this Friday in the opening round of the GLVC tournament.  BU qualified as the four seed with the winner advancing to play the winner of top-seeded Drury and Southern Indiana in Friday's semifinal round.

Men's Tennis:  Host Bellarmine pulled-off a tight 5-4 victory in the Great Lakes Valley Conference season finale for both teams Sunday.  With the match all square at 4-apiece it all came down to No. 5 singles where BU's Sathi Reddy was able to earn victory for himself and subsequently his team. Matt Smith improved to 11-6 in singles play this season with a pair of wins.  He bested Saint Joseph's Kris McNeary 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 before outlasting BU's Paul Clark with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 decision at No. 4 Sunday.  Smith also grabbed two doubles wins, teaming with JD Greenlee at the top spot winning 8-2 and 8-5, respectively.  The Greyhounds (13-10, 5-4 GLVC) and Bellarmine will do battle again this Friday in the opening round of the GLVC tournament.  BU qualified as the four seed with the winner advancing to play the winner of top-seeded Drury and Lewis in Friday's semifinal round.

Women's Golf: Four Greyhounds registered top-ten performances to help the UIndy women's golf team to a runner-up finish at The Battle at the Brickyard Saturday and Sunday.  Senior Kristi Piepenbrink finished with a nine-over 153 to share third place at the six-team event hosted by St. Francis University at Brickyard Crossing over the weekend.  UIndy enters its championship stretch, starting with the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship Apr. 26-27.  The league's 11 teams travel to Marion, Ill. and Kokopelli Golf Course Sunday and Monday.

Men's Golf:  The University of Indianapolis men's golf team placed second at the year's third and final Midwest Regional Sunday and Monday with team scores of 293 and 311. The rain-soaked 19-team event took place at Purgatory Golf Club in nearby Noblesville, Ind.  Senior Justin Hueber, who finished fifth with a two-day score of 147, carded Monday's second-lowest score with a two-over 74. Hueber notched birdies on both the 17th and 18th, part of a one-under back nine.  UIndy gets a week off from competition before heading to the NCAA D-II Super Regional May 4-6. The Hounds, who are currently ranked No. 1 in the Midwest Region, will travel to Allendale, Mich. to compete for the right to go to the NCAA Finals in Blaine, Wash. May 19-22.
