GEORGETOWN, Ky.- The 12th-ranked University of Indianapolis men's golf team fired a nine-under 567 to tie for second at the year's second Midwest Regional Saturday and Sunday at Cherry Blossom Golf Course in Georgetown, Ky. Three Hounds shot even-par or better for the tournament, led by senior
Justin Hueber, whose seven-under 137 matched the second-best individual score of 100-man field.
The Greyhounds came just short of taking their seventh team title of the year, a category in which they already lead the nation. UIndy finished day one with a five-under 283 to lead the 20-team field by a stroke. The Hounds came back Sunday with a solid 284, but GLIAC power Ferris State carded a 280 to jump from fourth to first. Grand Valley State matched UIndy with a 567 to share runner-up honors, and Wayne State finished a distant fourth with a 576.
Individually, Hueber followed a first-round 68 with a 69 in round two to tie for second with Wayne State's Steve Cuzzort. Cuzzort topped the leaderboard Saturday with a 66, but FSU's Kurt Valley carded an impressive seven-under 65 to finish with a 133 and take medalist honors.

Kyle Pearson shot under par for the first time this spring with a two-under 142, good for a share of 11th. Junior
Seth Fair shot even par on both days to tie for 17th while
Blair Webb and
Aaron Monson finished with matching 146s to tie for 26th.
UIndy's next challenge comes at the 2009 Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships Apr. 4-5. As the defending champs, the Hounds will attempt to defend their crown at Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Ind., the same course where they won the 2008 title by a GLVC-record 23 strokes.
