Volleyball: Thanks to a pair of sweep victories, University of Indianapolis head coach Jody Butera garnered her 300th career win Saturday at the Wisconsin-Parkside Invitational.  Butera's Greyhounds defeated both Minnesota-Crookston and Northwest Missouri State in straight sets to push the Greyhounds' record to a spotless 14-0 on the season.  UIndy, now ranked ninth in the nation, will open Great Lakes Valley Conference play this weekend, hosting rival Lewis Friday and Wisconsin-Parkside Saturday.

Football:  UIndy (1-2) dropped a 27-23 decision to visiting Wayne State Saturday at Key Stadium.  Star Warrior running back Joique Bell had 182 yards rushing and two touchdowns to help lead WSU to the win.  UIndy sophomore QB Rob Doyle finished the night with a career-high 311 yards passing and junior RB Halston Love tallied 202 yards of total offense.  UIndy (1-2, 0-2 GLIAC) heads to Hillsdale for its first road game of the 2009 season.  Kick time is slated for 7:00 p.m.

Women's Golf: In their last outing, the 8th-ranked University of Indianapolis women's golf finished second among a region-heavy 16-team field at the Laker Fall Classic last Tuesday.  UIndy received three top-10 performances, led by senior Lyndsay McBride's runner-up score of 152.  The two-day annual event was held at The Meadows Golf Course on the campus of Grand Valley State University.  The squad will take a week off before competing in the Screaming Eagle Classic Sep. 20-21 in Evansville, Ind.

Men's Golf: The Hounds are finishing up play in the John Piper Intercollegiate Tuesday in Bowling Green, Ohio. The team sits in 3rd through two rounds of play.  Last week, senior Seth Fair won the first hole of a sudden-death playoff to top the field at the sixth-annual Kiawah Island Invitational Tuesday.  In the team's first action of the year, Fair paced a UIndy squad that shot +13 for the tournament, good for fifth among the competing 15 teams.

Women's Soccer: The UIndy women's soccer team, ranked #12 in the naton last week, stayed perfect on the 2009 season with a 2-0 shutout of Great Lakes Valley Conference foe Kentucky Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon.  Senior Ashley Seehase tallied her fourth goal of the year in the win. The victory improved UIndy's record to 6-0-0 and 3-0-0 in GLVC action.  The Greyhounds will be back in action on Friday night at Key Stadium when they host conference opponent Bellarmine at 5:00 PM.  The Knights currently stand at 3-1-0 and 1-1-0 in conference play after they suffered their first defeat of the year at the hands of Northern Kentucky Sunday.

Men's Soccer:  The Greyhound men's soccer team picked up their first Great Lakes Valley Conference victory of the season by downing Kentucky Wesleyan 3-1 on Sunday afternoon. Freshman Bobby Adkins gave the Hounds the early lead, picking-up his team-high sixth goal of the young season.  Indianapolis (3-1-2) will host Bellarmine and Northern Kentucky this Friday and Sunday, respectively.

Men's & Women's Cross Country:  The University of Indianapolis cross country teams swept the Hanover Kiwanis Invitational held Saturday morning at the L.S. Ayres Athletic Complex.  The UIndy men had the top four finishers while the women boasted two of the top three spots to earn the wins.  Josh Gornall (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) was the men's champion, traversing the 6-kilometer course in 19:56. On the women's side, Stephanie Kave was the winner, outdistancing Franklin College's Hather Waterman by 16 seconds (19:33).  The Greyhounds will compete in the Indiana Intercollegiates meet this Friday, scheduled to be held in Terre Haute, Ind.

Women's Tennis:
The UIndy women's tennis team moved to 2-1 overall on the season with a split at DePauw University Saturday.  The Hounds bested cross-town IUPUI 5-4, before falling to NCAA Division III powerhouse DePauw, the No. 12 team in the nation, 9-0.  UIndy will finish-up the fall portion of its schedule this week, hosting the ITA Regional at Center Grove High School.  The Hounds will then break until a Feb. 27 match with Franklin College to open its championship season.
