Doubles bracket (Final)
GREENWOOD, Ind.- The University of Indianapolis hosted the Intercollegiate Tennis Association women's tennis Midwest Regional Friday through Sunday, headquartered at Center Grove High School. The tournament featured 16 collegiate teams from the region battling through both singles and doubles single-elimination brackets.
Meghan Teunis (Linden, Mich./Powers Catholic) won her opening-round matchup in the singles bracket, defeating Southern Indiana's Katie Jo Clagg, 6-2, 6-3. She later lost to the eight-seed of the singles draw in Tara Hayes of Grand Valley State, 6-2, 6-4. Northwood's Darina Berkova, the top-ranked seed in the singles draw, cruised through the bracket, needing just one additional set to go 6-0 on the weekend.
In doubles play, UIndy had just two duos competing, but neither could advance to the second round. Again, the top-seeded duo cleaned the bracket as Wayne State's Gill and Vuksanic outlasted Grand Valley State's Johnston and Trout on Sunday, 9-8, to take the championship. All three winners earn a trip to the ITA National Small College Championships in Mobile, Alabama October 15-18.
UIndy wrapped-up the fall portion of its schedule with the tournament and will return to action in February for its championship season.
