Four UIndy squads ranked in top 15 nationally

Volleyball: The #13 Hounds remained perfect on the season, running their ledger to a spotless 9-0 with four wins at the North Alabama Classic last weekend.  The highlight was a 3-0 sweep over then-#13 Truman State.  Senior Kyleigh Turner notched her 2,000th dig of her career, most of any Greyhound in the program's history.  UIndy will go for its 10th-straight win tonight (vs. Indiana Tech), which would tie the school record for most wins to start the season.  This weekend, the Hounds head to Wisconsin-Parkside for a tournament and the final four matches before the Great Lakes Valley Conference season gears up on Sep. 18.

Women's Golf: The No. 8-ranked Hounds Women's sits in second place, just five shots back, after the first of two rounds at the Laker Fall Classic, hosted by Grand Valley State.  Freshman Lauren Vogt is in second individually, three shots back of the lead heading into the final round.  The squad will take a week off before competing in the Screaming Eagle Classic Sep. 20-21 in Evansville, Ind.

Men's Golf:  The Greyhounds, ranked No. 13 heading into the week, are still battling at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate tournament set to conclude Tuesday.  The Hounds are sitting in second place through one round, led by junior Seth Fair's tourney-leading 66 on day one.  UIndy trails Georgia College and State by a single stroke heading into the final round.   The Hounds will play in the John Piper Intercollegiate next Monday and Tuesday in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Women's Soccer: Freshman Shelby Spinelli had a pair of goals and an assist, helping Indianapolis run its record to 4-0-0 this weekend.  Spinelli had a goal in the 2-0 win at Tiffin Thursday and added another goal and a helper in Sunday's 3-0 win over Missouri-St. Louis.  Sophomore goalkeeper Shae Morris posted both shutouts between the posts, lowering her season goals against average to 0.25 and giving her three shutouts in four contests.  The No. 12 Greyhounds battle Southern Indiana Friday and Kentucky Wesleyan Sunday in a conference road swing.

Men's Soccer:  With a 1-0-1 mark this past week, the Hounds remained undefeated, running their mark to 2-0-2 overall.  Thursday saw UIndy grab a road win, 2-1 at Ohio Dominican.  Freshman Bobby Adkins scored in the waning moments of the first half and provided an assist on a goal by fellow frosh Max Marsh earlier in the contest.  The GLVC slate opened Sunday with UIndy and Missouri-St. Louis battling to a scoreless draw (2OT).  Sophomore keeper Justin Roberts notched five saves in the shutout.  A road trip with stops at Southern Indiana and Kentucky Wesleyan is on tap for this week.

Football:  UIndy battled with #1-ranked Grand Valley State and dropped a 26-10 decision Saturday night at home.  The Hounds more than held their own against the juggernaut Lakers, but could not generate enough points to garner the upset and GV extended its regular-season winning streak to 44 straight.  The teams played to a 3-3 draw in the second half, but GVSU used the final few minutes of the opening half to put together two TD drives to muster the points they would need to prevail.  Junior RB Halston Love's 74-yard reception gave UIndy a 7-6 lead in the first quarter.  Sophomore QB Rob Doyle set another career mark for passing yards with 262, completing 25-of-36 with a TD and no picks.  Junior safety Craig Ray led the defense with a dozen tackles, one of four Hounds with double-digit tackle totals.  UIndy plays host to Wayne State this Saturday at 6:00 p.m.

Men's & Women's Cross Country:  The Greyhound cross country teams opened their season at the 48th annual Wabash Hokum Karem Saturday morning.  The Hounds' teams each finished in second place at the meet.  In the men's race, UIndy was led by the tandem of Michael Landy and Josh Gornall, who finished in third as a duo.  Kimberly Condra and Stephanie Cave finished fourth to lead the women.  UIndy continues its season this Saturday, competing at Hanover College.  The meet is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m.

Women's Tennis:  The Greyhound women's tennis team celebrated the official opening of its season with a 7-2 win against Ohio Dominican Saturday and a pair of doubles tournament wins against Franklin and Hanover Sunday.  For the weekend, UIndy's top doubles pair of Alena Perez-Majul and Aly Neidlinger recorded a 3-0 mark.  The Greyhounds battle IUPUI before an afternoon clash with host DePauw this Saturday.
