Women's tennis opens season with 7-2 win

INDIANAPOLIS- The Greyhound women's tennis team celebrated the official opening of its season with a 7-2 win against Ohio Dominican Saturday and a pair of doubles tournament wins against Franklin and Hanover Sunday.
Saturday's win at the UIndy Tennis Center featured easy wins for the top two singles spots in No. 1
Alena Perez-Majul (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) (6-3, 6-1) and No. 2
Meghan Teunis (Linden, Mich./Powers Catholic) (6-3, 6-0).
Aly Neidlinger (Plymouth, Ind./Plymouth),
Rachel Barger (Decatur, Ind./Adams Central) and
Ceciley Starkey (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) all notched straight-set singles wins as well.
In doubles play, Perez-Majul and Neidlinger teamed for an 8-3 win at the top position while
Alex Covington (Villa Hills, Ky./Villa Madonna Academy) and
Sarah Mastison (Evansville, Ind./Harrison) scored a 9-7 victory at No. 3.
On Sunday, UIndy traveled to Hanover College to compete in a doubles format invitational. The Greyhounds were successful crusing past both Franklin and host Hanover. For the weekend, UIndy's top doubles pair of Perez-Majul and Neidlinger recorded a 3-0 mark.
The Greyhounds battle IUPUI before an afternoon clash with host DePauw this Saturday.
