INDIANAPOLIS- In its home opener versus Indiana Tech Tuesday night, the No. 13 University of Indianapolis volleyball team upped its record to 10-0 on the season, matching the program record for most wins to start the season. UIndy dropped the Lady Warriors in just over an hour with scores of 25-12, 25-10, and 25-15 at the Ruth Lilly Center.
The Greyhounds got out of the gate quickly by opening the match with four straight points. Tech pulled to within three at 13-10, but a 7-0 run from the home team put the set out of reach. UIndy had just one attack error in the frame to finish with a .400 team percentage.
Indianapolis hit nearly as well in the second, out-hitting the visitors by a hefty .391 to -.286 margin. The Warriors pulled ahead 4-1, but lengthy scoring droughts again did them in as UIndy managed runs of 10-0 and 10-2 to help boost the lead to 2-0.
Indiana Tech (4-6) looked to put up a fight in the final set as the teams traded points through the early going. After the score was locked at seven apiece, the Lady Warriors fought off a would-be Greyhound rally to stay within two at 13-11, but the Hounds proved too much as they rallied to win the race to 25, including scoring the final five points of the match.
