Greyhound wrestling earns 33-12 dual meet win over CCSJ

INDIANAPOLIS - The UIndy wrestling team improved their dual meet record to 5-3 with a convincing 33-12 victory over visiting Calumet College of St. Joseph in action at the Ruth Lilly Fitness Center on Wednesday evening.

The Greyhounds took an early 12-0 lead after Josh Allen and Ethan Harris were awarded wins by forfeit at 125 and 133. 

The Crimson Wave got their first points of the meet from Chad Allen who earned a 3-1 decision win over Indianapolis' Johnny Henry at 141 before UIndy answered back with three points of their own following at 8-4 decision by David Lopez at 149.

Bryce Givens, Nick Smith, and Shelby Mappes extended the UIndy lead to 28-3 after Givens captured a 5-3 victory at 157, Smith picked up a pin at 165, and Mappes earned a major decision win at 174.

CCSJ won the next two matches with wins by Dan Bedoy and Dustin Boyd before UIndy's Lynn Panko concluded the night with an impressive 22-7 technical fall over the Crimson Wave's Artie Grubba at 285.

The Hounds will be back in action on Sunday when they take part in the Roger Denker Open hosted by the University of Central Missouri.  The event is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM.
