ROLLA, Mo.- Junior
Darius Adams dumped-in a game-high 26 points to lift visiting Indianapolis to a 67-55 win over host Missouri S&T Monday night in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. With the win, UIndy earned its tenth win of the season and snapped a three-game losing skid.
Adams came off-the-bench for just the second time this season and provided a lift, especially in the second half, to aid the Hounds in the road win. The junior transfer scored 21 of his points after halftime as UIndy (10-7, 4-4 GLVC) extended a two-point advantage into double digits early in the second stanza.
A 15-2 run over a three-and-a-half minute span catapulted the visitors in front, 46-34. The Miners (5-12, 1-8) would score just six points in a nine-minute stretch and UIndy led by as many as 15. Adams hit from deep to start the UIndy run and later sandwiched a pair of threes around a
Nate Blank layup and the Hounds never looked back.
The game started sluggishly with the scoreboard reading 4-2 in favor of the home team just over seven minutes into the game.
Sergey Struck also gave the Hounds a boost off-the-bench, scoring eight points in the opening half and Indianapolis owned a 39-11 advantage in bench points on the night.
Adams chipped-in three steals, three assists and three rebounds in 34 minutes of action. Blank scored 11 and led the Hounds with eight rebounds.
UIndy will face a tough stretch, hosting Southern Indiana and Kentucky Wesleyan this week. Both squads were ranked in the top 10 of the National Association of Basketball Coaches poll last week. Thursday's tip with No. 5 USI is set for 7:45 p.m.
