Did You Know?: The UIndy women's basketball team's 19-game win streak represents the most consecutive wins by either basketball program.  Both records were eclipsed this week.  The old women's mark of 17 was set by the GLVC-champion 2002-03 squad that finished 29-3 and the UIndy men started the 1996-97 season off to an 18-0 mark and a No. 1 national ranking en route to a 23-5 campaign.

Women's Basketball:  The winning streak currently sits at 19 straight to start the season and UIndy is one of just four unbeatens left in all of NCAA Division II women's hoops.  The Hounds grabbed a 74-64 over Southern Indiana Thursday before thumping Kentucky Wesleyan 82-52 on Saturday.  Junior Samantha Meissel easily leads the Great Lakes Valley Conference in scoring (20.5 ppg), a mark that puts her eighth in the nation for points per game.  With a three-game lead in the GLVC East Division, UIndy has a pair of GLVC North games on the docket this week.  The Hounds travel to Saint Joseph's Thursday evening before heading to division-leading Wisconsin-Parkside Saturday afternoon.

Men's Basketball:  The Greyhound lost a pair of tight ballgames to nationally-ranked squads this week at Nicoson Hall.  Undefeated and fourth-ranked Southern Indiana escaped with a hard-fought 78-70 win Thursday and No. 13 Kentucky Wesleyan was an 88-81 winner Saturday, despite 24 points from UIndy point guard Darius Adams.  UIndy will take to the road for a pair of league games this week.  The Hounds visit Saint Joseph's Thursday before a Saturday matinee at Wisconsin-Parkside.

Track & Field:  The Greyhound men's and women's track teams had an impressive showing at the Little Giant Invitational, hosted by Wabash College, on Saturday, breaking five meet records on their way to nine event wins.  For the women, the UIndy relay teams were the story of the day, as both the 4-x-200 meter relay and 4-x-400 meter relay teams established new meet records.  Frederick Helm broke the meet record in the 200-meter dash on his way to winning the event with a time of 22.26 seconds and was a member of the meet-record breaking 4-x-200 meter relay squad. The final meet record performance for UIndy came in the shot put, as Matt Royer, the reigning GLVC Male Field Athlete of the Week, won the event with a toss of 51' 1".  The Greyhound track and field teams will return to action next Saturday when they travel to Indiana Wesleyan for the IWU Track and Field Invitational.

Swimming & Diving:  Grand Valley State swept a pair of duals in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference swimming action Saturday afternoon at Ruth Lilly Center Pool.  The Laker women earned a 142.5-91.5 win while the GV men were 162-78 winners. Maura Donahue earned two NCAA B-cut times (1:54.56) in winning the 200 freestyle and 500 free (5:07.50).  Erica Smith also nabbed a pair of B-cuts with her wins in the 200 IM (2:10.63) and 100 butterfly (58.40).  They kicked-off the meet by swimming legs of the victorious 200 medley relay (1:50.83).  Guy Kogel won the 100 fly in a B-cut time (50.33) and later helped the 200 free relay to a win (1:26.39).  The Greyhounds will host Lewis University Saturday at RLFC Pool.  The meet is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.

Wrestling:  Part of the UIndy wrestling squad traveled to the Monon Bell Duals hosted by Wabash College in action on Saturday, while the rest of the squad headed to Ypsilanti, Mich. for the Eastern Michigan Duals.  The Greyhounds finished the Monon Bell Duals with a 1-3 record with a win over Wilmington (Ohio), while falling to Manchester, Calumet, and host Wabash.  UIndy was 2-1 at EMU, defeating Thiel and Olivet and falling to the host Eagles. Casey Kenney  was impressive for the Greyhounds, finishing the day with an unblemished record and winning three of his four matches via pinfall at Wabash.  Kenney's other win came in dominating fashion with a 22-5 technical fall victory.  The Hounds are back in action Friday and Saturday when they compete in the Wheaton Invitational in Wheaton, Ill.  Friday's action is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.

Football: UIndy's Craig Ray and Randall Courtney were each named to the third team defense of the Don Hansen's Gazette NCAA Division II All-Super Region Three Team announced last week.  The pair led a Greyhound defense that topped the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in total defense in 2009.  The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced last Tuesday that it will be sponsoring football as a league sport beginning in 2012 and that UIndy will join that conference for its first season.
