On tap: The Greyhounds head north to face arch-rival Saint Joseph's and Wisconsin-Parkside this week in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. Both squads are part of the new GLVC North Division and this will be the lone meeting with these schools this season.
About SJC: The Pumas are 11-7 on the year coming into Thursday's battle and sit in second place in the GLVC North. St. Joe's has the third-highest scoring output in the league (86.8 ppg), but gives up 78.8 a contest, second-worst in the conference. Mark Lake leads the team in scoring (13.9) while Andrew Helmer (6.9) is their top rebounder.
Series Record with the Pumas: The all-time series with Saint Joseph's is tilted slightly in favor of the Pumas, 46-40. The teams have split the last two years with the home team taking all four games.
About UWP: The Rangers are 8-12 with a 2-7 record since the turn of the calendar year. UW-Parkside has lost its last three home games. Jeremy Saffold (15.9 ppg) and Grant Johnson (15.8) lead the way offensively with one of the two earning top point-man honors in all but one game this season.
Series Record with the Rangers: The Greyhounds have won 21 of the 32 all-time meetings with UWP. The past two years have seen the road team prevail --winning each of the last four meetings. Seven of the last eight winners have been the visiting team.
UIndy Head Coach Stan Gouard: Stan Gouard is in his second season and carries a 19-27 record as the Greyhound front man. He previously spent three years as an assistant coach at Indiana State following his three-year stint as an assistant at UIndy. While at Indianapolis, Gouard was part of the staff that helped the Hounds to a 47-31 record, advancing to the NCAA tournament all three seasons.
Looking Ahead: UIndy will return home to play the final inter-division games of the season, hosting Rockhurst and Drury from the GLVC West. RU is 8-3 in the conference heading into the week, a full game behind division-leading Drury. The Panthers are 8-1 in league play and are currently ranked No. 15 in the NABC national poll.
Last Time Out: It was another hard-fought battle with a ranked opponent at Nicoson Hall Saturday with the visitors escaping with the win as 13th-ranked Kentucky Wesleyan benefited from second-chance opportunities to edge UIndy, 88-81 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. UIndy (10-9, 4-6 GLVC) outshout the Panthers (19-3, 8-2) Saturday, but gave up 18 offensive rebounds to a team that needed no help scoring, pumping-in nearly 83 points a game on average.
Darius Adams led the Greyhounds with 24 points and eight assists. Devin Williams added five steals to aid the defensive effort.
Ryan Sims poured-in 17 and
Nate Blank chipped-in 14 for Indianapolis.
No Three for You!: Indianapolis continues to lead the GLVC in three-point field goal defense, allowing just 29.9 percent to its opponents from distance. Just 92 three-pointers in 19 games this season have been hit by UIndy foes, also the lowest total in the conference.
Doing It All: Darius Adams is doing it all for UIndy. The junior guard leads the team in multiple statistical categories. He is the team's leading scorer (18.5), rebounder (5.9), and registers a team-best 4.3 assists and 2.0 steals per contest.
