INDIANAPOLIS- With its second-largest margin of victory in program history, the undefeated and fourth-ranked University of Indianapolis women's basketball team ripped off its 12th straight win with a 101-44 rout of Illinois-Springfield at Nicoson Hall Monday evening.  The “W” broke the women's record for most wins to start a season, set just two seasons ago.

The Greyhounds (12-0, 3-0 GLVC) left little doubt of the outcome from the very start, scoring the game's first 14 points before the Prairie Stars finally got on the board more than five minutes in.

Later in the period, the Hounds again had a big rally, running off 15 unanswered to push the margin to a first-half-high 31 points.  All told, Indianapolis poured in 51 points in the first 20 minutes, taking a 29-point cushion into the locker room.

Senior Katie Dewey put up 19 of her game-high 22 points in the first stanza.  The Franklin Central grad matched her career high in the game, a mark she set earlier this season versus IU Northwest.  She also came one steal shy of matching her own single-game school record by finishing with eight steals.

The Prairie Stars (2-9, 0-4) didn't fare any better in the latter period, as the home Greyhounds kept the gas down to the tune of 50 second-half points.  With the UIndy's starters playing limited minutes down the stretch, the Greyhound bench contributed 35 points to the effort, with 17 coming from Hillary Wenning.

The Greyhounds finished 39-for-77 (50.6%) from the floor while forcing a gaudy 37 turnovers.  Junior Samantha Meissel, the league's leading scoring, chipped in 17 points and nine rebounds, while reigning GLVC Player of the Week Jessica Canary added 12 points and three blocks.

UIndy hits the road to face two GLVC-West-Division foes, starting with Maryville Thursday, Jan. 7.  Tip time from Moloney Arena is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. EST.

Notes:  The Hounds, who came into tonight's contest ranking sixth in the country in scoring margin, have won all but one of their games by at least 13 points…UIndy's largest margin of victory came on 12/30/04 when the Greyhounds downed Fisher (Mass.) 110-25.
